Quality · Cost · Delivery. A–F grade per carrier.

Not an opinion score. D (delivery) composes punctuality, no-shows, incidents, efficiency. C (cost) benchmarks the carrier's avg dwell cost against the distribution center. Q (quality) mixes docs-complete and driver rating captured at check-out.

Module anatomy

Three scores that travel together. One composite decided per DC.

D is the behavioral score — what ops teams always called "reliability". C translates ops into money: how much this carrier costs you. Q is the guard's voice and the checklist. The backend composes the three with configurable weights and auto-redistributes if any of them is unavailable.

QCD COMPOSITE FORMULA
QCD =wD·D+wC·C+wQ·Q/ (wD + wC + wQ)
D× 50% default
Delivery
  • Punctuality · ±10 min of slot
  • No-show rate (inverse)
  • Incident rate (inverse)
  • Efficiency · actual vs. expected time
Gate and dock events
Extra penalty for arriving before on-time threshold.
C× 30% default
Cost
  • Carrier avg dwell cost
  • Distribution center benchmark (avg of all carriers)
  • Your carrier's avg cost vs. the DC average
  • Step fn: ≤0.5→100 · ≤1.0→80 · ≤1.5→50 · ≤2.0→30 · >2→10
Cost step function
Null if the DC has no detention rate configured.
Q× 20% default
Quality
  • Docs complete at check-out (60%)
  • Driver rating, 1–5 ⭐ (40%)
  • 30-day rolling window
  • Rating ≤ 2 → incident type classified
Post check-out screen
Null if no captures in the window. Weights redistributed.
Redistribution — if Q or C are null, their weight is spread across the survivors.
Blending — the 7d window weighs 40%; 30d, 60%.
History — daily snapshot in the score history to read trends.
Grade ladder

The grade isn't cosmetic. It fires automatic decisions.

decision engine
A
≥ 80 · excellent
Front-of-line on waitlist · auto reassignment · no buffer
B
70–79 · regular
Standard · slot-optimizer proposals considered
C
60–69 · regular
Standard · shows up in manager digest
D
40–59 · risk
Extra 10–15 min buffer at check-in · manager alert
F
< 40 · high risk
Double buffer · manual review · premium slots blocked
Sub-features

Eight pieces for a score nobody can argue with.

01Temporal blending

7-day + 30-day, weighted.

Short window (40%) + long window (60%) blend with daily history for trend visualization.

02Grade-drop alert

The carrier finds out.

When the grade drops, the carrier gets an automatic email. Configurable per DC (opt-out available).

03Radar chart

Carrier vs. DC average.

Radar visualization comparing carrier performance against the DC average.

0419 parameters

Configure what matters.

19 configurable parameters in carrier scoring policy: weights, penalties, thresholds — per DC.

05Early-arrival penalty

Showing up early gets penalized too.

If a carrier arrives more than the configured window before the slot, punctuality drops. A carrier arriving 40 min early blocks a dock — the score reflects it without a manager having to intervene.

06Captured at check-out

Q is born at the gate, not from a survey.

In the post check-out panel the guard marks docs complete, rates the driver, and if it's ≤ 2 ⭐ classifies the incident (aggressive, no PPE, false docs, bribery, etc.). All of it feeds the score.

07Cross-carrier benchmark

Each carrier against the yard's average.

The detail page radar compares the carrier's punctuality, no-shows, incidents, efficiency, docs and rating against the average of all DC carriers. Only shows when there are ≥ 2 carriers — a single data point isn't a benchmark.

08Visible to the carrier

The grade isn't our secret.

The carrier portal exposes their own aggregate score. If it dropped, they see why. If it rose, they see what moved it. Transparency as an incentive.

Where each number comes from

Eight concrete signals. Zero guesswork.

Every QCD dimension is fed by events already happening: the gate QR, the dock close, the guard's post-checkout panel.

Dim
Signal
Source
Note
D
Punctuality ±10 min of slot
Gate / QR
Includes extra penalty if they arrive too early.
D
No-shows
Appointments
Confirmed bookings with no check-in in the window.
D
Operational incidents
Ops inbox
Wrong docs, late cancellations, blockers.
D
Efficiency · actual dwell vs. expected
Check-in/out
If they take 2× longer, efficiency drops.
C
Carrier dwell cost
Detention calc
Hours × rate; per-booking average.
C
DC benchmark
Cross-carrier avg
Weighted average across all site carriers.
Q
Docs complete (60% of Q)
Post-checkout
Guard checks yes/no at close.
Q
Driver rating · 1–5 ⭐ (40%)
Post-checkout
Rating ≤ 2 classifies incident and alerts admin.
End to end

How the score is composed, updated and acted on.

Nothing is manual. The score lives off the event stream your gate and docks already generate.

Day 0
Policy is set up

Admin fixes per-DC D·C·Q weights, detention rate and on-time window. Defaults 50/30/20.

01
08:42
A truck arrives

Gate QR check-in. Punctuality is stamped — and how early/late vs. the slot. D adjusts.

02
09:10
Dock operation

Dwell clock runs. If it takes 2× longer, efficiency drops.

03
10:25
Exit with post-checkout

Guard marks docs complete and rates 1–5. If ≤ 2 they classify the incident. Q enters the engine.

04
10:26
Cost settles

Actual hours × DC rate = dwell cost. Rolls into carrier avg, updates C.

05
03:00
Nightly job recomputes

Daily snapshot per carrier: D, C, Q, 7d and 30d scores. Stored in the site history.

06
03:02
Grade-drop → carrier email

If B→C, the system fires an email to the carrier. Per-DC opt-out from the site policy.

07
Day
Decision engine acts

A-carriers front of waitlist. D and F get extra buffer. Slot proposals go to the manager.

08
How it connects

The score doesn't live alone. It's the glue between modules.

What it moves

Four levers when the score decides on its own.

-38%
Average dwell time

When A-carriers go to the front and D/Fs carry extra buffer, the yard's average dwell falls.

-27%
No-shows from C+ carriers

An automatic email when they drop a grade is, on average, enough to reactivate them.

+19%
Effective dock utilization

Score-weighted slot-optimizer proposals use gaps that used to stay empty.

0
Arguments with carriers about "who's better"

The grade is derived, auditable and shared with the carrier. No opinions in between.

Measured across DCs running QCD for ≥ 6 months · Q1 2026.
Module questions

What ops ask when the score decides.

If it's not here, sales replies same-day — not a form into the void.

C turns off for all carriers at that site and its weight (30 by default) redistributes across D and Q. The composite still runs; it just stops weighing cost.
Because later, nobody captures it. The guard is already closing the booking, the QR is scanned and the driver is right there. It's the only moment where the data is real.
Yes, per DC. Admin and manager go to settings · carrier-scoring and slide. Must add up to 100. Changes take effect on the next nightly computation — we don't rewrite history.
The composite blends 7 days (40%) and 30 days (60%). A bad day shows in 7d but barely moves the grade. A bad streak does.
As soon as they open the portal. The endpoint for their own score returns the current aggregate. If the grade drops, they also get an email (opt-out per DC).
No. Each DC has its own average — comparing yourself to the north when you operate in CDMX isn't fair or useful. If you operate across several DCs, your benchmark varies per site.
